Okay, so last week I finished a skit for our fund-raiser and I had my first day of placement, which was decent. I also completed Act One of my feature film script and peer reviewed a friend’s Act One.
We once had groups based on genre that we counted on to review our work. Then the teacher realized a bunch of people no longer wanted to write features, so they were given the option to write two short films instead. Well, that caused a bit of a problem because the people writing shorts preferred to review shorts and the people writing features were left in the lurch. I was one such person left with no one to review my stuff. I asked my teacher what would happen if there was no one to review my work. She told me I wasn’t the only one and she regrouped us.
I was scared with who I might end up grouped with, but my new group is amazing! We’re all good workers and I think we’re really going to help each other elevate our writing to a new level 😀
One of the members is my partner for an original TV series, so I already know we work well together. She’s who I traded my work with last anyway. The other two are people I’ve been hoping to get a chance to work with. I’m enjoying reading their work. Actually, one was so good I kept reading it when I probably should have been going to sleep…
Anyway, I’m super excited for the rest of the semester now!
I’m also getting used to the schedule change and it’s not so bad really. I mean, I don’t love being up so early on Monday that I can see the sun rise from the bus, but I do like how much time I have to do things once I get home.
I submitted a pitch for the short film I already wrote to my teacher. That was an optional assignment for no marks, but it may get me more notice in Toronto in April, so I figured it was worth a try. Earlier today, I handed in an assignment in my play writing course. Yesterday I peer reviewed one of the men in my group, so there’s one peer review left to do. I also have something to finish for placement. With the TV show one-pager pretty much done, I may actually get time to finish editing chapter two of my novel!
I’m a little behind on my readings, but I swear I will catch up. They’re actually helpful readings. Speaking of reading, I’m also reading a book because we have to do a book review of a scriptwriting related book for one class.
Later this week, I also have to finish toying with my career plan, go to placement, and finish fund-raiser related things. Speaking of the fund-raiser, here’s the event link in case you’re around and want to drop in.
I got a planner the other day to help keep track of all the things. I was sure I’d be drowning soon if I didn’t. I have a lot of goals in the mix right now and I think I’m mostly doing okay with them. I added some small new things. Specifically, stop eating cookies everyday. I figure that will help my workout results tremendously.
And that’s how the river of life flows today.
