Thoughtful Thursday – Laid Off

Many thoughts are running through my mind right now. I was laid off this morning. It’s not something that has ever happened to me.
I spent the morning updating my resume and talking to people who might be able to help me get a job. I spent the afternoon and evening with good friends and we played Pok√©mon.

Tomorrow’s plan is to apply for EI and make arrangements for the things I’m paying out like loans and mortgage. Oh, and clean my home.

In the interim, I have a story with a deadline looming.

Perhaps this change will be a blessing in disguise. I’ve been yearning for change anyway.

  1. Being laid off is not easy. It forces you to think. Think about what you have, what you need, what you need to keep what you have, what you need to keep your sanity. I’m 43 now and I fear being put out of work because I’m not in my prime anymore. You at least have a story to write, something someone wants and a deadline to help you reach it.

But, all is not lost if you use this opportunity to clean out the closets and downsize before something happens that is going to force you to do just that.

  2. Wow. Sorry to hear that. If you can afford it financially and emotionally, this could present an opportunity to tidy house in many ways. Good luck with the writing deadlines. You’re young, talented and resilient.

    Best wishes,
