Tuesday brought a nasty winter storm down upon Ottawa and surrounding areas. The snow began in the morning. Pixie started, which was a blessing as I’d been trying to get to the pharmacy for the past two days. The drive was a little messy. After stopping on my way to work, it was messier still.
About 20 minutes after arriving at work, my car looked as if I had never brushed it off. Around 11, the snow in the parking lot was up at knee height. Well, my knee height. It was high enough to cause difficulty opening car doors.
At noon, they sent us home. I was thankful that I had bought a shovel earlier this winter to keep in my car. I needed it to get Pixie out of the parking lot at work.
I slowly drove home. Despite having seen plows earlier in the day, the roads were as if none had been by.
When I got home, I got stuck twice. Pixie’s front end was getting caught on the snow and so were her wheels. Because she’s a little low to the ground, it was like the bumper was trying to plow through it.
Once more I shovelled. Thankfully, the snow was the light and fluffy variety.
Snuggled in my cozy home, I accomplished some chores.
Then I continued the edits on The Page & The Magician.
Total snowfall was 51.2 cm and broke the record.
The city is still cleaning up the mess.
